About Mark C. Updegraff
Welcome — I’m Mark C. Updegraff, Broker of Record and founder of Updegraff Group Realty.
My path into real estate has been anything but ordinary, and that has become one of my greatest advantages. I came to Rochester in 1997 to study Imaging and Photographic Technology at Rochester Institute of Technology, later continuing into graduate work in Color Science. My early career included work with NASA, Kodak, and ITT Corporation, where I developed a deep respect for precision, systems, analysis, and the details that shape big outcomes.
Today, I bring that same disciplined eye into real estate.
Based on available MLS history through September 9, 2026, I have represented more than 950 closed sale sides totaling over $150 million in property value. My work spans residential homes, luxury properties, multifamily assets, commercial buildings, mixed-use properties, investment opportunities, and value-add real estate.
Clients work with me for residential real estate, luxury homes, investment properties, multifamily sales, commercial real estate, historic homes, value-add opportunities, and strategic real estate guidance throughout Rochester, NY and the Greater Rochester region.
Whether I am advising a homeowner, negotiating for a buyer, helping an investor evaluate a property, or guiding a complex sale, my goal is always the same: help people make strong decisions with clarity, confidence, and purpose.
My roots in real estate began with redevelopment. In 2010, I shifted my full focus toward restoring neglected Rochester properties through companies such as Wedge Redux LLC, Ward Redux LLC, and Raze Capital LLC. Those projects taught me to see beyond surface condition and recognize potential — in buildings, blocks, neighborhoods, and people.
That perspective still shapes how I serve clients today.
I understand older homes, historic properties, investment properties, rental housing, commercial spaces, and the construction details that often determine long-term value. I believe real estate is never just about a transaction. It is about stewardship, strategy, timing, negotiation, and the ability to see both what a property is and what it can become.
As a broker, entrepreneur, and Rochester advocate, I care deeply about helping create safe, clean, sustainable, and adaptable spaces that serve the community well. Strong real estate decisions can strengthen families, support investors, improve neighborhoods, and contribute to the long-term momentum of the city I call home.
I also believe leadership matters. My work is not only about serving clients, but also about mentoring agents, building systems, encouraging growth, and helping talented people become stronger, sharper, and more confident in their craft. The best real estate outcomes happen when people bring skill, integrity, creativity, and decisive action to the table.
At my core, I am a broker, negotiator, strategist, mentor, investor, and builder of people and places. I believe in doing excellent work, communicating clearly, telling the truth, and creating value that lasts.
